The BIIA 2017 Biennial Conference is much more than a traditional gathering of credit and business information industry professionals. This is a critical event for our members, customers, policy makers and regulators who are seeking information and insight on current and future challenges in a fast moving information environment.
The overarching theme of the event is Embracing Digitization and dealing with the challenges of convergence in the Credit Ecosystem: It is all about technology, digitization of data, financial inclusion of consumers, Micro businesses, SMEs and corporate trade credit providers. Last, but not least, the requirements by policymakers to protect the privacy of individuals, protecting their identity, warranting cyber security, complying with Anti-money laundering (AML) and KYC, causes a conundrum for users of information services and our industry because of the lack of access to information.

Excellency Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj. Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Kingdom of Thailand.
Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj has assumed his position as Minister of Digital Economy and Society since December 2016. Prior to that he held the Minister of Science and Technology portfolio for over two years during which many progressive changes have been widely implemented.
An outstanding career in the field of public policy, he has contributed to his country the design, formulation, and implementation of major national policies including science & technology, innovation, ICT, e-commerce, and education. His contributions have also been extended to international collaboration notably to ASEAN, APEC, UNCTAD, OECD, WHO, ITU etc., as well as establishing effective scientific diplomacy to bilateral, multilateral relations, and inter-agency collaborations.
Prior to his appointments to both ministerial portfolios, he founded and headed many important organizations including Secretary General of the National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office, Executive Director of the Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand, Director of Electronic Commerce Resource Center, Chairman of the e-ASEAN working group, Director of the National Information Technology Committee Secretariat Office.
His policy track records have sustained long-term impacts to national and international development. A policy architect who understands the roles of integration and partnerships domestically and internationally, Dr. Durongkaveroj has been instrumental in establishing many policy platforms such as university-industry linkages, ASEAN integration, community water management, and most recently championing tech startup campaign. He is currently concentrating on digital development and digital for development covering broadband infrastructure, national digital park development, digital community covering e-commerce, e-health, e-government, and human resource capacity development.
Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala. BIIA Chairman, former Finance Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand in 2011/12
He is currently Chairman of the Audit Committee of Thai Life Insurance Company, one of Thailand’s three life insurers, and Advisory Chairman to the Board of Directors, National Credit Bureau Co., Ltd., Thailand’s only consumer credit information provider. His opinion is highly respected and widely quoted in public media in Thailand and South East Asia.
He was Secretary General of the Securities Exchange Commission of Thailand between 2003 and 2011 and Chairman of ASEAN Capital Market Forum. He obtained his first degree on Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, London University, and later became a Fellow of Chartered Accountants after training at Price Waterhouse, London. He started his career at the Bank of Thailand, the country’s central bank. His last position there was Deputy Governor.
As former central banker, former finance minister and an advisory chairman to the board of directors of the National Credit Bureau means that BIIA will gain a competent resource from the user and regulatory side of our industry. We look forward to his guidance and insights.

Korn Chatikavanij, Chairman of the Thai Fintech Association and former Finance Minister of Thailand. Korn served as Finance Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand from 2008 to 2011. Previously, he was president and chairman of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand) from 2000 to 2004. Much of Korn Chatikavanij’s career was spent in the finance sector since his early age at SG Warburg, London. He then co- founded JF Thanakom Securities with Jardine Fleming and was its president for 11 years. After the merger of Jardine Fleming and JP Morgan, he became president and subsequently chairman of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand). He left to run for Bangkok Member of Parliament in October 2004.
In December 2009, Korn Chatikavanij received “Global Finance Minister of the Year 2010” and “Asia-Pacific Finance Minister of the Year 2010” awards from the Banker (an affiliated publication of the Financial Times). Korn Chatikavanij graduated with BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from St. John’s College, University of Oxford.
